here we go again
andd i’m back on tumblr. i sense an addiction coming on.
i was just on postsecret because i check it obsessively if i’m up late on saturday nights, desperately hoping frank will post this sunday’s secrets. if at all possible, i plan on sending in postsecrets in the near future. how incredible to be a part of something so much bigger than you. to know that thousands of people might see your deepest thoughts on their computer screens on sunday morning.
my other ambition: to meet tj thyne. if you don’t know who he is, go to youtube and watch Validation immediately. it will change your life.
point number three in this post is that i love music. to paraphrase the movie music and lyrics, few things can make you feel as happy as fast as “i’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day.” i wish i could write songs like adam duritz can (lead singer of counting crows). it is honestly beyond me how he can write such amazing lyrics. also on the list of great songwriters: simon and garfunkel (two people i think) just for their song “sound of silence.” admittedly, the song itself isn’t all that good, but the lyrics….sigh. all i can say is that i wish i had that kind of talent.
on the topic of art, i constantly ponder whether writers really intend to put in the complex symbolism, metaphors, etc. etc. that we so often dig up in stories. maybe some stories were just supposed to be stories, or maybe they were supposed to have a simple moral. we constantly twist things around and overthink the obvious routes until everything has become a tangled mess of confusion and chaos. i hope writers mean to put in the complexities.
similarly, i always find myself hoping that my favorite actors are like the characters they play in a specific movie or on tv. for instance, if zach braff isn’t similar to jd, i might cry.
